and what about the guy who checked a pair and flush draw on the flop?

[/ QUOTE ]

He didn't wanna get blown off the hand by a big re-raise. This is covered fairly extensively in TPFAP. His hand wasn't good enough to withstand a big re-raise, but not poor enough to make it an easy fold.

[/ QUOTE ]

On the other hand if the stacks were the right sizes he could come over the top with an all-in re-raise with a big overlay + fold equity. Of course given it's poker on TV we have no idea if this was the case or not.

Hey sirio-

On the relative scale of bad folds, how bad would you say the set of 10s fold was?

He also spent a while thinking of calling an all in from what looked to be a small stack wtih JJ, not so good.

Yeah..I think Awada said something like " what took you so long?" when he finally called.

I think that was one of the worst folds in poker history.

Does this guy fold his way to the final table?

In a more serious note Tommy: Was it the TV pressure that make you did such a huge mistake?

Like someone else said, its easy when you see all the cards.

Note, i havent seen the broadcast so i can only go off what ive read in this thread.

I couldnt possibly say id never fold 3rd set with 3 to a broadway straight, and 2 to a flush on board.

If he felt he was beat at that point, then he was right to fold it - the fact he woulda won meant nothing, it was a small pot which he doesnt necasserily need to be deeply involved in.

Gotta trust your first instincts, and his were clearly that there is a good chance he is beat, and if he is, he has no reason to go bust/lose a big pile of chips on this one.

One of the worst fold in the history of poker? Not even close.

Phill

With just the action up to the moment of the fold, and without knowing what his opponents have, that was a TERRIBLE fold, period. Anybody who can't see that is a terrible poker player.

Here is an idea, only give your thoughts on something that you have actually seen. This was an awful fold, and there is no doubt about it. Even if he is beat, he has a lot of outs. What part of the betting makes you think he is beat? The flop that was checked around, or was it the turn that was checked to the last guy who made a token bet which was called by the PFR. Bad fold.
