Default Is this bad? Bottom 2 pair in level 1 (Party $11)

Board is pretty scary, but I have a pretty good hand here. How do you guys play it?

I prefer check-call, then push turn.

I don't have a problem getting all my chips in with bottom two pair vs. 1 opponent closing the action. I don't think the BB is going to fold to your raise, so you could just call his raise and lead into or CR a non-scary turn.

Hmm, I'm not sure I like this line. It could easily get checked through at this level. And there are a lot of cards I don't want to see on the turn. Can you explain why you like the line you suggest?

Because it's bottom two pair and if you bet it's hard to stop people chasing anyway, with such a draw-heavy board, and if you get raised, you're committing too much of your chips with quite a marginal hand at this stage. Better to get to the turn cheaply, and then see where you stand, rooting for a blank.

For instance say BB has 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] here or something equally weird. If you check, then he's going to bet out and you can get to the turn more cheaply. You deprive him of what he wants to do which is to get all-in on the flop, having probably the better part of ~14 outs. Push on the turn and suddenly his 50% chance of hitting becomes 30%. You also don't want to go broke in an unraised pot.

I like it- as you said the board is plenty scary, and there's a bunch of scare cards that can hit on the turn which will leave you wondering where you stand- nice play.
