Level 2 KQs, flopped top pair (Party $11)
No read on this guy other than I see guys do this with flush draws a lot. He's in the blind so he could have flopped a crappy 2 pair. I really couldn't put him on a hand that beat me, but I folded like a little girl. Does anyone call this? Also, who hates my raise given there are 3 opponents hanging around?

Re: Level 2 KQo, flopped top pair (Party $11)
I limp KQs from the button with hopes of flopping two pair or a good flush/str8 draw. If I hit top pair, I try to keep the pot small. Had you not invested 25% of your chips, this would be an easy fold. Since you already put so many chips in the pot and it is an $11 tournamnet, I see a good arguement for calling with the hopes your opponent is on a flush draw (possibly pairing the K).

Re: Level 2 KQo, flopped top pair (Party $11)
interesting - with only one caller and only the blinds to play I would raise 3-5X the BB because I don't want the SB and BB limping in and hitting 2 pr/str or flush draw to my TP. Can't figure out why you wouldn't want to raise in this situation? Could you clarify for me as this is starting to sound like a leak I need to understand
Reagrds the OP post - I would call without thinking, top pair with great kicker (tho this is probably another leak!)From my expereince at this level he could have Kx suited, any pair, Q9 or something simlar with a freaky 3 card str/flush draw (or of course he has slowplayed AA!) Thanks Damian |

Raise? With KQs with a limper? No.

Raise? With KQs with a limper? No. [/ QUOTE ] I would have to agree with this, raising an UTG limper with KQ is not always a good play. Considering we have no reads on how UTG has been playing I would not advise raising here. IF UTG has been playing many hands (regardless of his position when he played hands) I would consider raising. |

Raise? With KQs with a limper? No. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think it's terrible at the 11s. Sometimes I'd limp, sometimes I'd raise. People will limp with all kinds of silly things, and I think KQs can play fine against that range. The flop minbet followed by a push when you reraise is frequently suggestive of some kind of trapping to me. I think sets are plausible here, two pair isn't out of the question, TP and flush draw, etc. Then again, people will also bust this out with KT here sometimes and think they are trapping as well. Since you're getting 2:1, you need to be pretty convinced that you're beat to lay down. I'm not quite convinced enough; while I think you're beat quite often, I think you'll be ahead here frequently enough to make this marginally profitable. Call, but it's pretty close. |

I don't get it. You have 1 limper, you will have position the entire hand and you have a good, but not great had with KQs. This seems like the ideal time to raise, hopefully get the blinds out, and go up against the limper heads up.
What are the arguments against raising? What hands do you raise here? |
