I'll second the suggestion for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The first one anyway. Great game.

Star Control 2 Single player awesome RPG, and it's free.

I'll assume that you've played Starcraft, but in case not, awesome game. Far better than Warcraft 3, in my opinion. You can probably pick it up for $10.

I'll echo HL2, as well. Probably the best game I've played ever. Not overrated in any way.

Bought Morrowind when it came out. Liked it well enough, but I find I like just a bit more plot mixed in.

Coffee?!?!

Morrowind has a full and great plot, IMO. I've played a lot of RPGs throughout the years, and MW is easily in my top 5. To say it didn't have much plot is basically saying you never really gave the game a chance. Either that, or you are just saying you prefer linear RPGs like the Final Fantasy series. I love FF games, too. In fact, I'm a huge nerd about them. But their linear nature does irriate me sometimes.

The combat system is the only real problem in Morrowind. For those who, like me, took issue with the combat, the upcoming Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion should definitely please you.

As for Half-Life 2...
If you like action FPS games at all, it's easily the best.

Guild Wars

Meh. I recently tried this game at a friends place, and I'm not a fan. It's not even a real MMORPG. Maybe that's a good thing, though, as the OP stated he didn't really want to play another MMO game.

W3 is good, but I could never love it as much as Starcraft. I always felt constricted in W3 due to the lower number of units you could have at a time. It definitely works well as the best RTS/RPG hybrid I've ever played, but I prefer the pure RTS play of Starcraft and War2.

:impatiently waiting for Starcraft 2:

i purchased morrowind for the xbox about a year ago and was one of the few games i really got into. i tried to play it without a manual and got to a point in which i had like 17k swords and the best body armor in the world through my trait as a thief.

however, i wasnt strong enough to destroy creatures inside of the dragon mountain or whatever its called. i found out that you really need to join guilds and do their slave work for hardly any money. i couldnt figure out how to do half the missions and pretty much gave up on the game once there was nothing left to steal. i had literally pillaged almost every store in every town and village outside of the mountain.
