Default Made straight vs showing trips

Very loose game

I catch a middestraight 3-straight on 3rd ... Villain shows a four

4th Street: you make a fourstraight and Villain pairs his doorcard ... Villain checks and it is checked down to me, and I last to act take a free card

5th Street: Villian shows trips 444 (last 4 is dead) and I make my Straight ... Villian bets and everybody folds .. again I am last to act

Now what ... ??

Raise for Value or just call Villian down ?? (And why ??)

I actually fold, from your example, doesn't look to be much money in the pot. You likely have to call three BB's just to find out you're beat.

There where 6 players in the pot, so apart from the ante 0.8$ there where 3$ in the pot from 3rd street and now a bet from villian, so pot stands at 5.8 that is pot odds of 1 to 2.9

Assuming that I have to call him down then he will put a 6th street bet and a river bet in the pot and I will have to call him 3 times

So pot offers 5.8$ + two more bets from villian =9.8 and I will have to lay down 6$, so it is 6 to 9.8 or 1 to 1.68

Is that lousy odds ??

If chances are, that he doesn't or haven't filled would cutting down his odds by raising like a maniac by such a bad idea ?? (I the long run at least)

Since It's very very late and I should be sleeping long ago, I will allow myself to post the rest of the hand

I raised him on 5th street .. and since he just called .. I took it as a sign of weakness

Villian checked 6th street .. I bet

Villian checked River .. I bet and won the showdown

I crossed my mind, that villian might be slowplaying .. but then again I doubted it somehow

I also spent time wondering if he was able to checkraise me (both as a bluff and after hitting his hand) on the river, again I doubted it

Luck or well played ?

I think your kind of pushing you luck here, but he was apparently really loose so it worked out. What did he start with?

I would probably check the river but since he'll call without improving to the boat its not so bad.

I'll say against this opponent it was played alright, and lucky.

I really dont like the raise. If you are behind you lose more and if you are ahead you likely wont make anymore against a good player.

Also the fact that when you are behind you are drawing dead vs. your opponent drawing live when he is behind makes raising bad.

Yeah ... you are right, I guess I simply was blinded by the fact, that 6 players called the bring in every hand, and me being practically the only one playing anything resemling tight

But good point .. what would a good player go in with if showing a four (A burried pair og a threeflush/threestraight)

Morale being do not play the 1/2$ Stud tables at pacific ... you might win simply by pushing good starting hands (basically without effort, just patience) .. but it will ruin your handreading ... (The automated push your premium pairs robot ... hope they fill, and then mostly you will take the pot ... sometimes unimproved .... and everybody is weak loose, so noone ever plays back at you without having what they are representing (And you know that for a fact since all hands are shown down)

I don't know about that. I think nano/ll are great for hand reading. You can never really put people on a specific hand true, but you learn a lot whether you realize it or not. bad players of certain specific types take similar lines in similar situations. When you start seeing these over and over again it gives you a great feel for the strength of peoples hand when you are in unfamiliar spots.
