That is so bizarre. I've been seeing this weird betting with overcards on the flop into preflop raises a lot. I can't fathom what these guys are thinking.

I'm not saying BB played it well, but I think AK is the best hand on the flop a significant percentage of the time.

The PFR changes the texture of the hand though... I would have 3-bet pre-flop and led the flop if Hero didn't cap. Thoughts on that line?

Huh? This looks like a strong play to me in this case. While many would 3-bet preflop with AK, it's certainly not crazy to simply call the raise. The flop could easily have missed the preflop raiser so he then made a stab at it with his big overcards. When the turn hit him he continued to bet.

I think the villain's line was fine.

The villain's line is absolutely terrible. AK is a routine 3-bet preflop. Did you notice what he did? He passively called preflop, hoping to flop TPTK, missed, and then tried to take control of the hand. He's taking control at the wrong time. Betting the flop does nothing to control the hand and nothing to protect his hand. It's begging to get raised when he's behind and drawing only to overcards and a backdoor, non-nut 1 card backdoor straight with only two cards to come. He played AK the worst way possible here. 3-betting preflop and leading is the way to go.
