Default Some hands for checkup

I'm going through the most nightmarish downswing of my poker career, and I often want to curl up in the fetal position and cry. Luckily I'm taking a week off when I go home for the holidays. Anyway, this isn't the BBV forum. I'm posting a few hands that I think I may have played poorly, or maybe not. Perhaps some bad calls, etc. Just checking up.

Hand 1: (Reads: everyone at the table is an idiot, and CO is very shortstacked and a retarded LAG)

Default Re: Some hands for checkup

Hand 1: I don't see a problem, when the board pairs you have to call the river. Perhaps villain has the straight but I doubt that. I don't think you can raise the river either. I think the hand is fine.

Hand 2: I'm not sure about the turn bet, is it worth trying to push these guys over? I really feel CO is raising his 2 pair here, and would be very surprised if your beat. Once BB drops I feel this is a decent 3-bet.

Hand 3: Maybe he's raising top pair or bluffing? Maybe. As I play live I fing these situations are much easier with physical tells, but yeah call and lose.

Hand 4: I think this is good, good bet on the flop 1 on 1, good turn c/c with outs, and good bet not letting it get checked through. nh.

Hand 5: Hard to see what your losing to here, but once again, its very hard to laydown 2 pair on this board.

On the whole I don't see any major problems with these hands, but then again, maybe I'm just crap. Good luck with the downswing. Im on a -100BB swing myself!

Default Re: Some hands for checkup

Hand 1: When UTG+1 wakes up on the turn after calling all those bets on the flop, it sure looks like he has QT. However, since he's a retarded LAG, we certainly can't rule out a slowplay of a more vulnerable hand, like J9. We also can't rule out the possibility that the turn improved UTG+1 to two pair. And maybe he has T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and the turn gave him a better draw, or maybe he's just being weird with K6s.

This one seems okay to me, although I'm not at all happy when UTG+1 wakes up, and improving on the river doesn't cheer me up a whole lot.

Hand 2: This seems fine, too. CO may have slowplayed you to the river, but he also could've just caught a worse aces up hand on the river. I take river raises from passive players seriously, and I wouldn't want to open myself up to a cap, so I think I'd just call, like you did.

Hand 3: On the river, I'd be thinking, "How the hell did that card help you?" I'd call, expecting to lose to 97 or JT or something like that. I guess a hand like J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] isn't really all that unlikely, since Villain might peel with his backdoors on the flop with that hand, in this big pot. And with hands like J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], of course he's staying in.

In any case, though, I'd need to see it. I think your unknown Villain will be popping you with something like A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] often enough. Players who like to try to buy the pot with a river raise really aren't that uncommon at 5/10.

Hand 4: I'd probably fire again at the turn here, hoping that bet would be the one that got Villain to dump AJ. It's an uncomfortable spot, though. Villain will be calling (or maybe even occasionally raising) with worse hands like QJ and KJ, and if you bet, you could be walking right into a raise from AT, etc.

The river seems fine to me. Villain may check behind with A9 now.

Playing good but not great heads-up hands like KQs against a cold-caller who's only a little loose isn't really very much fun.

Hand 5: What the hell? I guess BB must have 43 or A5 or turned trips or something. I doubt you're good very often, but I would have paid off too. Maybe BB has 85s for three pair (that's only two combos, though, and we can't even be sure he'd play that) or played a worse ace this way. And a hand like 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] is also possible, but not especially likely. I think river checkraises at 5/10 are usually (though not always) a strong hand. But I'd need to see it.

You're obviously behind, unless villain is a total retard. Against 2-pair you'll have ~7 outs. Against a set 2 outs and against a straight 0 outs. UTG+1 has played his hand strange, if we assume he's on a straight as often as he's on 2-pair, this is a slim call getting 14:1 (7/2 + 0/2 = 3.5 outs, slightly less because you risk being up against a set). He's an idiot, but is he over aggressive? The read is vague, the call is slim, but I think it's fine.Probably about 0EV. Hitting the 4 on the river makes the call a must.

Hand 4: I don't like the check/call on the turn. If you were in position I can understand the check but oop, bet.

The rest looks fine, you ran into slowplays or 2 outers on the river I guess.

Opinions on this turn bet? Our folding equity is about null, but we might very well still have the best hand. I use to bet in this spot, just not sure if it's a clear bet.

I don't like getting raised by this passive villain on the river, but I've never been good on making big laydowns. He might think you have KK-TT since you've betted all the way and think his Ax is good. I don't like it very much, but I call expecting to win the 9% required.

But if your read means he definately has a pair or fd on the flop I can see checking. I still think I prefer betting to charge a fd or might get a gut-shot to fold incorrect. I think his stats indicates he could be able to make loose flop calls.

However, I like betting the river since I think he'll check it through quite alot.

I initially thought this turn was a check/fold. I don't know, I hate giving up the initiative to a floater, but I'm not sure a bet here is any good.
