Default Padooki/Badugi forum - Can we set one up?

I gather this is an emerging game in the US right now. We've been playing it in England for ages now.

I'd love to see a forum here dedicated to this game. I have done quite a bit of work on it at home that I would be happy to share, and would like to hear other people's ideas and strategies. Does anyone know how we'd go about setting one up? I'd be prepared to help moderate it if needed.

Like tapirboy said: this forum is perfect for badugi discussions

There really aren't that many posts here anyway. And most of them center around games that are similar to badugi.

Ok.

Well I might start making some posts on it to generate discussion then.

Ah, but is it actually a poker game?

pro: Poker-like betting and drawing. Poker theory is extremely applicable.

con: Very different hand ranking system.

But I agree that badugi is on-topic here; I'd hate to send anybody off to the Other Gambling forum. *shiver*

Are there other 'poker' variants with nonstandard hand ranking systems? There's Big Two, I guess, although I'm not sure I believe that's poker because the mechanism is so different. One could make an argument that Chinese Poker isn't poker either despite faithfully following the hand ranks.

A-5? Razz? Since both of those are appropriate here, I don't see why Badugi wouldn't be.

I think of those as standard since they're what is used for split pot games as well. 2-7 is "standard" but inverted.

I'd be surprised if badugi was not made up as a variant of triple draw that could be played at a full table. I don't see how anyone argues that badugi isn't poker unless they argue that other forms of lowball aren't poker.

I agree that Chinese poker is debatable. The strategy is actually closer to blackjack or pai gau (yes, I'm master of the obvious) than it is to any traditional form of poker.

Edit: Me no post fast enough.
