To be honest, I think I'd be more inclined to just c/f the turn. I suspect you're ahead here so very rarely that the bet/fold is just a waste of a BB.

[/ QUOTE ]

Pardon my newbie-ness but doesn't BB mean wither Big Blind or Big Bet depending on context.

I cannot see how Big Blind would apply so that leaves Big Bet. As we are talking about betting the flop it is only a Small Bet, right?

I am not trying to be smart or anything, (and I may be looking dumb asking about this! ) I am just still in the process of understanding the jargon used on this forum so I can get the most out of it.

Any aids to my understanding appreciated.

You're fine, you just need to learn to read your own quotes closer.

You're right, sorry. I got so wrapped up in all the talk about flop I missed the change to turn. I think that's called target fixation.

why did you bet the flop?

[/ QUOTE ]

So the PFR would blow away the field with hands like KK/JJ/KQ. If he can get another A that's chopping with/beating me to fold, that rules.

[/ QUOTE ]

Okay let's just assume that this is true. Well then why did you bet the turn? You now lose to KK, KQ, JJ and anything that had you beat on the flop. You should check/fold the turn yet decide to bet again. What gives here?

You're right, the turn bet is bad. As I said earlier, I thought there was a 16% chance I could get him to lay down a non-K hand, but people seem to believe this isn't true. So while the flop bet was for the reasons I stated, the turn bet was from a different angle -- a bluff representing a K and hoping to get a better hand to fold.

Wow you seriously need to check-fold this turn. What better hands, exactly, do you think he will fold? Like...name them. I don't see any. And, for that matter, I don't see any hands you are ahead of.

I'm not exactly wild about the flop bet either...this is a really mediocre flop for you. You can consider checking and MAYBE calling if it is one bet back to you...but you just don't have the best hand here enough to justify a flop bet.

Betting the flop is ok as your Ace may indeed be good. I don't see you getting raised by anything you beat though, so I think c/f the turn is the only vible option.

I would probably just check the flop and see what the action looked like.

I'm not going to be upset if there's a bet and a raise and I decide I need to fold. I don't like what fell on the flop very much, really.

Stop. Stop. Stop betting the flop trying to induce raises from worse hands.

Check/fold the turn.
