Wow... this is cool! Can you give us an option to post to a specific thread, or forum?

The plan was to hardcode which thread would be used, and then change it as different live events happen.

How about just a reply to a specific post number, that way the user can actually chose the forum and reply to a specific post as necessary?

That's certainly easy enough to do - just add a field for "reply to post #" and away you go. But it's tough to ask everyone to remember the 7 digit number that corresponds to the post they want.

By having a quick pop-up menu of targets wih a default, it is not necesary to add the number.

It is possible to have both, but then you might have someone see the "reply to post #" box and enter the wrong thing, etc. Since you can't read the threads, the ability to specify a post to reply to may be more confusing than useful.

My instincts tell me to keep it a simple pop-up of target threads.

Default quick post front end

OK, TT, I just modified it to include an option for entering a post # manually.

TT, I also added a second thread for a pop-up menu of topics so you can see how that would work, and how the pop-up menu works in conjunction with the "any thread #" portion. The pop-up menu now has two choices - this thread, and the SIIHP thread from OOT(*).

One thing I did discover is the forums do not like an empty subject, so there is a default "quick post front end" subject line if you enter in your own post # to reply to.
I could write something that goes out and grabs the subject, but this works for now.

If other people want to check it out they can. Here's a TinyURL for it, so it is easier to type on your mobile device. http://tinyurl.com/8kh4t

If you try this with a WAP enabled mobile phone or Blackberry type device and have problems, let me know. I'll try to fix it.

(*) I struggled with the decision to use a definite article here
