I wouldnt be raising the turn with the intension of checking the river if he just called. That is my interpretation of what a free showdown play is. I'd be raising the turn for value and for the likely hood that I just improved over him. When he 3bets the turn it is player dependent. If he is real passive, then I'd fold for sure.

Ah, sorry I misinterpreted your post. Thought you were saying call the flop then raise a blank turn, but you meant raise when the Ace hits. Makes sense now.
