He is saying that they are not close to the money, so he could call with worse hands than he would if they were fighting for 3rd.

How exactly would this be bad? You have A9- if he calls with total crap you will be ahead.

BTW- I push this at 90% of the low stakes tables.

I admit, I am new to all EV calculations and stuff. And since I am a noob, i expect to be flamed for a while...however from what I have learned, when 8 remain, your pushing range is less, and his calling range is more. I think you should still be in survival mode at this point. If you want to steal, do not committ your life. I may be wrong, but that is why I love this site..Im learning every day. THanks

There are a lot of factors to consider. Here- you have a strong hand, only 13BB, and are up against only one player. You aren't in wonderful shape where you can just pass on this. Run it through SnGPT, pretty sure its +EV.

BTW- what's the EastLake tutorial?

No no.. he isn't saying that he will call with total crap.. He is saying the gap between PUSH and CALL is small at this point.

eastbay, sorry, I live in a community called eastlake..just came through when I typed.

Under the help menu in SnGpt, there are tuts and overviews on how to use the application as well as general ideas of blind stealing and the gap. Again forgive my lameness

I ran it through SNGPT after I posted it, there is not a range he can be calling with here that would make this -EV.

mgross,

Raise to 300 and then fold?!?!?!

OP,
Okay, you should just push this preflop. This isn't a > 10xBB situation since you're only putting ~10xBB at risk. Besides the fact that in a blinds battle A9o is likely to be a decent push even with 13 or 14xBB if you decide to do so.

I can see merit in just calling....but if I'm raising here it's clearly allin.

The EFFECTIVE stack is still 10BB, and thus this is still a push!
