Default Resorts East Chicago 10/20 LHE

I suck at writing, so this won't be a blow-by-blow of my quick trip out there. I hadn't been back since they remodeled the rooma and changed owners. It is now well lit and a pleasant room, if a bit cramped. I have been playing only internet poker for the past year, so I was a bit unsure of how I would do live again. I normally play 5/10 6 max online, so I figured 10/20 live should be pretty easy to handle. They had 3 10/20 games spread - apparently they usually spread 2 so our game wasn't always full but I didn't mind. The staff and dealers seemed fine - I didn't really notice anything unusual anyway.

As for the poker. . .these players play SO bad it's amazing. Numerous raised pots with 5 or more players, sometimes 7 or 8 even. Large pocket pairs were definitely asking to get run down - suckouts were the norm. The game was a mix of mostly loose-passives, one guy who was a little LAGy but mostly stupid and a couple of decent players. I (humble me, I know) felt like I was the best player at the table, although there may have been 1 or 2 OK players. I ran pretty well, so I ended up +20 BB at the end of the night. Got AA once and it held up, and JJ held up once, but KK and JJ got smoked. It seemed like I virtually had odds to call on every street with any draw whenever I was in a pot because of all the poor players hanging around with crap. The best part was all the idiots who kept bluffing at the river - hello, NOBODY folds! Good times. Definitely want to go back, although I probably won't for a while because the wife isn't happy with me heading out there. Good thing she's out of town right now.

Anyone know how the 20/40 games are? If they are anywhere near as soft, that's where I'm headed next time.

Actually, the 20 game is usually better than the 10. Lots of weak tight local rocks often dominate the 10, which while beatable isnt has good as the 20/40 which usually plays like the game you describe. I tend to play more on weekday night so i can be with my family on the weekend so I am not as familar with the weekday action.

Also, occasionally, a 40/80 will get spread and the play doesnt improve that much either.

If you were to ask Tony Popeloy who has nothing good to say about Resorts East Chicago. He would tell you to 20/40 games there are the best in the country. Resorts draws by far more limit players than any other casino in the midwest.I find the 5/10 games tough to beat with all the ramin jamin going on. I usally play 10/20 but they even get wild at times like the 20/40. Many of locals that played limit at Resorts are now down the street at Trump in the no limit games. Also Resorts Chicago Poker Championship was a joke with only 36 players in the main event.

When I was there last night, some guy was yelling about "Two f*cking years in a row!" so I figured it was the same guy as last year.

Thanks to you and some of my buddies who informed me about the blind structure I did not play. I was there playing in side games the past two weeks. I was there for the start of the Chicago Poker Championship. Annie Duke was there along with 35 other players. Annie Duke read a book during the tournament. About of ten of the players looked like drug dealers so I joined a side game and left a few hours later. That two weeks of tournaments was a joke some had as low as 25 players. Again thanks jayheaps for your earlier post about the blinds. I already booked a room for the World Series Circuit at Caesars Indiana.

I usally play 10/20 at Resorts. But lately I have been playing 200 max no limit at Trump. Everybody is watching poker on TV then they run over to Trump and lose there ass on the no limit tables. Caesers is only 340 miles away I plan on playing in the $500 holdem event. Again thanks for the info. GOOD LUCK

then you likely weren't at my table. I played 10/20 waiting for the 20 game and it was 10x tighter than normal so i assumed it must be 2+2ers at the table
