I don't always like to reraise an early position raiser with JJ, plus I try to mix up my play as much as possible to make it harder for people to put me on hands. My pre flop call would likely give me more action if I happened to hit a set on the flop.

Man did I hit the flop. However, I did not like my play here at all. Why did I raise that much? If he had pocket aces, I would be dead right there because he would know he had me beat. If he had anything else (say a monster such as top two pair), I'm practically screaming to him that I have him beat, tied, etc. At the very least he would be extra careful in the proceedings.

The problem as I see it, is that I didn't extract as much as I could from this hand (given that he didn't outdraw me on later streets). Perhaps just call or raise to $8 instead of $12. And since I had position on him, I could observe his play on later streets before I had to do anything. Perhaps a call would have him bet the turn again, and then I could raise him.

Any comments?

I like a call in this spot, let him bet pot again on the turn and raise him should a scare card turn or possibly just call again if it blanks...

The board is almost drawless and is beautiful for mining money out of AK, AQ, AJ.

He's not folding AK, AQ to this raise, so I like it. Why give KQ free outs. I'd be willing to bet a lot he has KK/QQ and was going to check it the rest of the way down.

I usually don't like raising flopped sets on fairly drawless boards.

I don't mind a call then a turn raise.

Call, then lead the turn. Or just lead the flop. Or call, then c/r the turn, but that offers too many free cards for my liking. C/r the flop just makes it too easy to get away from his hand.

Somehow I put the 'SB' in front of Hero instead of after him! Darn it.

UTG+2 was pre-flop raiser so the bet on the flop is expected, doesn't necessarily mean that he hit anything. Raising flop could work, but you might take the control away from UTG+2 and make him more likely to fold. I think c/c flop will make him bet again on the turn, and then you raise.
