Default NE 1 else have a problem w/ Linksys BEFSX41 router?

When I play through my Linksys BEFSX41 router I get disconnected like every 6 min but when I pull the plug and go straight thru my DSL modem I never or rarely get disconnected. This is at every site I'm at not just one particular site. Anyone else have this problem and have you solved it?

Do you have a problem staying connected to anywhere else, or just to poker sites? My router developed a similar problem a while back and it became progressively worse to the point that the router stopped handing out DHCP and went belly up. Replaced it with another one of the same model and all is well.

Not saying that's the problem you're having (have you tried updating the firmware and/or checking the settings?), but it is possible for things to go ack out of the blue.

I just installed one last week and haven't really noticed any more disconnect problems than usual, maybe once every few hours. I also didn't do anything but plug it in, so I have no idea if there's any tweaking to be done.

Mine never disconnets me while I am doing anything online, but sometimes when I come back to my computer I have lost internet access and have to reset the router. Yes same model but several years old now. It happens less than once a day, so even though I sell the suckers and could replace it anytime I want, so far I just put up with it.

Maybe it's just my settings. I'll have to try a hard reset and set it up again. It's wierd because it just happens at poker sites. But those are the only like live action sites I go to. So I wouldn't know if it happaens at a site that would use similar communication with my router. Thanks for the help. It sounds unique to my router.

When you are running through the setup next time, try this:

Find the section for DMZ server and set it to your computers local ip. This should give you an idea of whether the problem is with the router's firewall software, or more likely, something with the wireless settings. Report your results and we'll go from there.

OK. The DMZ bypasses the routers built in firewall, right?

I'm not familiar with that router, nor the US DSL system, but is there an option for "keep connection alive"?

Yes, I have that checked. But it's not my router disconnecting. I have no problem staying connected while surfing or doing other things. It's like the poker web sites are having trouble staying connected but the internet connection itself is uneffected.
