Default What\'s in a Name?

My father had told me his uncle, the first of our family to come over from the old country, was illiterate. When they asked him to sign his name, all he could do was make an "x". The easiest name to teach him from this was Fox. Whether this story is true or not, I know for sure that the family's real name was Menachem. Andy Menachem sounds like a poker player, doesn't it?

And then there was the man whose real legal name R. B. Jones. When he applied for his social security card, he wrote down "R" for his first name and wrote it as follows;

R (only)

since they asked for complete given name.

For him middle name he wrote:

B (only)

And of course his Social Secutiry card came through as Ronly Bonly Jones.

I like what Eli Wallach said in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: one name's as good as any other, no?

When you comin' out to La-la land?

Regards,
Andy
