It takes a special player 'taking a shot' to push into the preflop reraiser w/ a flopped set.
What kinda "special player", ive made this play quite a few times.A gross overbet all in with a set and so also with draws and air against the pf raiser.
Its a move ive grown to like.It might not get u paid off with ur sets everytime, but it does show the table u have enuf gambooool in u to get u a lotta action. I also think, that this sorta move, used occasionally combined with LAG play(open pushing with air, and draws against a premium pp) is at least neutral ev, if not better, compared to playing a set more traditionally against a pf raiser who can muck an overpair postflop. You just make it harder to muck his overpair when u open push, he doesnt have too many actions to go over to convince him enough to fold.
I agree that calling here is probably the correct move, which makes it a brilliant move for villain to make with a set.

I disagree. If MP is really just taking a shot, he is not going to be shoving all his money in there like that without a big hand.

I think he loved that flop and got over-eager because he didnt want to get outdrawn so he pushed all in. I think he has KK beat.

By "special," I meant very atypical for a player taking a shot in a bigger game above his roll.

Maybe I'm way off here, but most people I see buying short in big NL games wouldn't overbet the pot into the pfr if they had flopped a big hand. Usually, they would check it to fsu, let him continuation bet, and then push their chips in. It's a special/unusual move for him to just shove it in there w/ a set if that's what MP's got.

Btw, I never said I didn't like the play w/ a set; on the contrary, I think the same reasons that make it an unusual line for a short stack to take w/ a flopped set make it a great line to get paid off.
