I can't stand that new Weezer song so I won't be getting the CD.

I totally understand why you feel that way, but it's pretty damn catchy.

Its the suck, but yes catchy. When we went to Coachella everyone pretty much was making fun of it. But then, you'd be drinking a beer and suddenly blurt out some of the non-sensical lyrics, after laughing about how bad it is, you'd finish the beer, and all of sudden, say it again.

Bev-er-ly hills.

The new System of a Down CD is incredible as well. Give it a chance even if you haven't listened to them before.

There's a part in it that sounds just like The Sweater Song.

The Bloc Party CD is really good. It's like all of the recent angular postpunk bands of the last 2 years finally congealed into something great.

This seems like an appropriate time for an anecdote. I always thought Weezer were the coolest guys. Then one time I read an interview in Rolling Stone (I think) where the dude is walking in LA w/ Rivers Cuomo. They get to some club that Rivers wants to go into. He walks to the front and tries to get in and the bouncer stops him. He then pulls the "do you know who I am?" thing and even produces a laminated Weezer backstage pass w/ the band's picture on it to show him. Then the owner has to be called out to usher him in. Anyway, this kind of ruined my image of Weezer. I still like their music a lot, though. I've also read a bunch of that kind of stuff about Beck, which is also kind of disappointing.

Arcade Fire
White Stripes
Beck
Bloc Party
Gorillaz
Weezer

The Spoon recommendation is strong. That would probably top my list.

Try and find the last Rolling Stone interview with Rivers. (May Issue?) The band hates him now, he's like this dorky celibate buddhist, and he's a huge douchebag. They should have never gotten back together.
