Default AJo from EP flops top pair

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (8 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, 2 folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, SB calls, BB folds.

Turn: (4.50 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, SB calls.

River: (8.50 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, MP1 raises, MP2 calls, SB folds, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 14.50 BB

Wanted to check/fold the turn. Really wanted to check/fold the river. But no, had to stick it out...

Raise preflop.

Check/folding the turn is crazy...come on man, you are letting the results skew your thinking here.

River is pretty straight forward after you bet. Once MP2 coldcalls 2 bets, I think this becomes a pretty easy fold.

I might call one more just because of the pot size - although, it seems pretty apparent, with the river raise and the coldcall, that you're beat.

Please don't think of check-folding the turn or the river.

Depending on the read of the table I may raise preflop. I like your bet on the flop. Is it time to try for the check/raise on the turn? Show weakness and see who shows up. You may also get the Ax, Kx, and Qx to fold if it works. I'd check/call the river.

It was suggested in my whine thread that I am over-aggressive in the face of passivity. I'm struggling to find balance.

I agree with the pre-flop raise here from EP. I would have check/called the river--probably because I am too passive, though.

I hate AJ off. I alternate between raising and folding pre-flop. When you get a program like Poker Tracker (if you don't have it already) I think you will find that if you play AJ off every time that you get it that it will be break-even or costing you money. In summary AJ off sucks. Especially in EP or MP.

Pre-flop - raise or fold. Do NOT just call.

Flop - fine
Turn - fine
River - I would probably check/call as you have 3 others staying to the river (1 of whom probably wasn't on a draw, but hoping for the A or K to fall).
