Default Short post, many mistakes...I think.

Blinds are 200-400, I have roughly 9000 in the big blind and get dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

UTG open-raises all-in for 1300. The very next player has about 20K in chips and is the leader, who has only been at my table for 5 minutes, calls. I call, heads-up for the side pot.

Flop is 289 rainbow no heart. I check, my opponent bets 2000 and I fold.

It's a pretty simple hand but I think I made several mistakes in it. What does everyone think?

When I folded the leader pulled back his chips and flipped over KJo. UTG flipped over A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and won the pot with ace-high.

I think my biggest mistake was pre-flop. What do other people think?

Diplomat,

I would have reraised before the flop. The UTG player could have anything. While the big stack might have AA or KK and be trying to lure people in, he's much more likely to have something mediocre here. Get it heads up with the best hand against the all-in.
