Best and Worst Days of Your Life as a Sports Fan
The title is self-explanatory.
My worst: 1997 World Series. My Tribe 3 outs from winning it all. Then the tragedy ensues. It haunts me to this day. A distant second is the day it was announced that the Browns were leaving Cleveland. At least we got a new franchise, if you can call it that... My best: This past April when the Tar Heels won the National Championship. I've been a diehard fan for quite some time, even through the Guthridge/Doherty era, and it was very satisfying to see them back on top. Close second: OSU over Miami in the National Championship a couple years ago. Close third: When the Cavs won the lottery and the rights to Lebron James, who grew up about 15 minutes from my hometown and who I watched play several times in H.S. |

Worst: Aaron Boone. Nuff said. I was only 6 when Buckner let that ball get through his legs; otherwise that might top the list.
Best: UConn beating Duke in the 1999 National Championship. Sox in '04 is a very close 2nd, followed by UConn winning again in '04. |

Re: Best and Worst Days of Your Life as a Sports Fan
Worst: Christian Laettner hitting the shot to beat UK in '92. The ultimate stomach punch. I punched the wall, my hand was not very appreciative. The Aaron Boone HR was disappointing, but really doesn't stick in my mind as that bad. At that point I pretty much expected it.
Best: There isn't a particular moment in the Sox '04 title that sticks out, but the overall quest was amazing. If I'm going for one moment, UK gaining redemption over Duke in '98 was pretty sweet. |

I know my worst. Gary Anderson missing the kick in the '98 NFC championship game.
As for my best the Pistons winning the NBA title last year as I wasnt old enough to really appreciate the title wins in 90,91. ALso this was the first time a team I followed won the title |

Worst: Boone. I almost cried that night. Sure, I think we all expected it after Pedro gave up that bloop single, but the Boone HR was the dagger through the heart.
Best: The following year. Also, the Pats beating the Rams is close. |

Re: Best and Worst Days of Your Life as a Sports Fan
Worst night of my life.
I was 11 years old, had world series tickets for the third year, was sure we were making it, then the back stabber sid bream limped home and beat a lollipop from bonds to score the game winner. Yes, I cried.. And no, nothing sticks out as positive, save the pengiuns 2 stanely cups, but i'm not a crazy hockey fan. |
