Re: I hate poker players
Some of what you say is very true. Out of all the message boards I have ever frequented, twoplustwo has the rudest and most hateful people I have encountered by far. There are alot of people on here that really seem to have a very pesimistic attitude, and try to find reasons to treat people like [censored]. That said, without this forum, I would be no where near the poker player I am today, and feel that all the great content here makes it worth putting up with all the assholes.

Re: I hate poker players
Playing live made me hate poker players, or at least the people that player poker at the Borgata.
Why the hell are you in a poker room if you're so dead set on not having fun? (I ask of the avg Borg 6/12 player) |

Re: I hate poker players
they all think they are going to win money...and they are all just looking for a way to kill time.
I played live a couple nights ago...first time in a couple months. Had a reasonable time actually...although finishing up a little could have had something to do with that. Some guy was telling a story about some stray pit-bull that was waiting for him in his garage when he got home from work. He came outside to have a smoke and the pit-bull scared him to death and chased him back inside. He came back out with a gun but when he cocked it the pit-bull ran-away and he couldn't shoot it in a residential neighborhood. A regular in that game suggested that the dog probably just wanted to bum a smoke. Some other guy (pretty bad player who liked to say 'implied odds' a lot) who I see there all the time kept asking everybody if they liked the Allman Brothers (some woman there was a roadie for them or something.....no idea...other side of the table). Then he was singing 'lord i was born a rambling maaaaan' except that his singing voice was about as good as mine (meaning 'not very') so it was kind of funny. These are idiotic conversations too of course. but as long as they AREN'T about poker I'm generally having an enjoyable time and that was the case for me the other night. |

Re: I hate poker players
do you need a hug alobar? Cause im here for you. I always try to take pity on those who arent as intellectually developed as i am.
also, you should come to vegas in november. I cant recall if ive heard other people talk about you going, but you really should. Theres nothing like spending lots of time being really drunk spending lots of money like you wont remember it, which you wont, and indulging in any hedonistic whim that you can think of to really destroy any expectation you have for meeting decent people, and probably will just kind of numb you to that naggin sense of disappointment and lost expectation that comes from living a completely fruitless and vacuous existence. see ya there. peace john nickle |

Re: I hate poker players
where there's money there's ego. if you weren't playing poker you'd have a job where you'd be pissed all the same.
but I understand. people talking about poker embarrasses me. I appreciate that the popularity yields good games but these WPT fanbois really [censored] piss me off. when my family asks me about it I get embarrassed. I dont'w ant to talk about it. but remember how fun it was when you didn't know how to play well. that's how it is to them. just because it's a job for us doesn't mean they can't have fun being ignant |

Re: I hate poker players
I think that deeply, you (like me) have a problem with men. Men tend to be less empathic, more competitive, and more obnoxious than women. Poker simply brings out the worst in most men. The tension of money being on the line plus the everpresent need to make oneself appear superior to everyone else causes them to go to extremes. It's not pleasant at all, and it reeks of an individualistic philosophy gone so far that these people no longer even resemble humans who are capable of love and compassion. That's why if you find me playing poker, you'll find me behind my monitor rather than at a casino. I can get my x hands per hour, analyze my game and the games of my opponents, and I don't have to listen to and put up with all the crap that goes on in a live game. Sure there is still some berating, coaching, being generally obnoxious and just rudeness, but it is a lot easier to tolerate a stream of text than a stream of loud, rude voices of people embodying a really disgusting form of narcissism.
