Nevada Jacks vs NexGens

Just wondering if getting a 300 pc. . NJ chipset would be better than getting say a 500 pc. NEXGen poker chip set ??

Are the NJ chips really that good? And are they worth the extra $$ considering you get less chips too?

Which NJ chips are you talking about? NJ offers 2 high end types of chips: ceramics (Desert Sands and Dead Mans) and traditional clay chips (Nevada Jacks and Martini Club made by Blue Chip company). Both of these are real casino quality chips but have vastly different feel and sound aspects to them.

As for comparing them to Nexgens, Nexgens are toward the high end of cheap plastic, metal slugged chips while the NJ are casino or near casino quality chips. Trying checking out www.chiptalk.net; there are some detailed reviews of all 3 types of chips.

As for which ones are better? Depends on what you are looking for. The NJ chips will stack better than the Nexgens are somewhat more secure as they are more expensive than Nexgens. Nexgens appear to be the chip of choice for custom labels while the NJs only come in denominated chips. Both chips are more than adequate for their primary function of tracking how many $$$ someone has won/lost so far.

Whatever you decide, I'd recommend you get samples before you pull the trigger.

Both have their merits. If you're on a budget, Nexgen is the way to go.

I replaced an old set of 11.5g slug SuperDiamond chips with Nevada Jacks and I'm very happy. I also ended up buying a rack of Nexgens to cover another denomination I didn't have covered with the NJ chips. I'm quite impressed with the quality vs price. I wish these were around 2 years ago when I bought the superdiamond set.

Overall, I'd say if you willing to pay the price and can find a good sale, Nevada Jacks are a good option, but at that price point there are other chips you should consider. For the budget conscious, Nexgens are the only chip I would recommend.

Nevada Jacks skulls or dessert sands are very similar to Chipco ceramic chips. Very nice mid range chips. I would definitely get them over the Nexgens.

As mentioned above, pokersourceonline.com has a promo for a set of 300. I just finished my promo and am waiting for my chips to arrive! [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] I ended up $70 ahead after doing it on Absolute Poker. Party Poker would be the easiest, only 250 hands.

Just got my chips yesterday, happy as a fly in $hit.

I did mine on Titan, which was a royal pain in the ass, but I ended up $100 before it was all said and done.

It can be done on bodog too, and I heard it clears quickly there as well.
