Christians and keeping kosher
Why don't Christians have to obey these rules again? They're in the Bible.

Re: Christians and keeping kosher
Because Christ indicated that we don't have to.
Since he is the "New Covenant" he reaffirmed what is important from the Old Testament (e.g. the Ten Commandments), dismissed what he didn't deem to be important (the Law of Moses outlined in Leviticus), added two more Commandments (Love your God with your whole mind heart, body, and spirit, and Love your neighbor as yourself). The Old Covenant measured Love of God by how well the Jewish people followed rules. The New Covenant measures Love based on how we act towards the Lord and eachother. |

Jesus apprently let everyone off the hook. As others have pointed out in other threads, it does seem unusual that god would give the Jews such detailed rules and then all of a sudden decide that they were not important.
