yes, basically. not even that you will NEVER reach it, but it will just take a long time... and in that time you can really make a shitton of money. i'm not talking about playing super fishy and winning, i'm just talking about playing good poker (but maybe not good enough to "beat" the game) but still winning a boatload. also, playing very well (perhaps enough to "beat" the game) but losing a ton and being crushed, through factors that are not in your control

This is essentially a modified Martingale strategy, which means you will never win a lot, but you will stand a good chance of going broke. Additionally, as others have mentioned, as you move up, you face a more steeply negative EV curve.
