Default Re: effective odds on the flop

it's hard to calculate effective odds on the flop because you don't know waht the turn action will be. if you can call for immediate odds on the flop that's all you need. your effective odds will be worse than your immediate odds so they don't play a role.

effective odds are more important when you're deciding whether you should call down a current bet and a likely future bet, or if you have some combination of made hand that might be good if the river goes check-check, and draw.
