Default QTo in BB

UTG+1: 50/5.5 in just 18 hands
Button: TA-P 19/9 in 31 hands

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG+1 calls, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, Button calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero checks.

Flop: (3.50 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 raises</font>, Button calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.75 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls.

River: (10.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 raises</font>, Button folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 caps</font>, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 18.75 BB

My question on this hand is about my play on the turn. Looking back, I think I should have check-folded to two bets, but I'm curious of other peoples' thoughts.

I am likely folding the turn given your read on the button.

I think I fold the turn too. But what the hell would he be calling with on the flop and then raising the turn, considering the horrible odds he was getting? J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] is the only thing I can think of, but you have the T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] so that rules it out.

I'm thinking he was slowplaying an 8. I don't think he had JT - he probably wouldn't have called two bets with a gutshot on the flop.

Is this still a fold with no reads on the button, or is calling okay?

Nah. Button had A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. He had the flush draw on the flop, made 2-pair on the turn, and got scared when his raise didn't chase anybody out, and his flush didn't come in.

It looks like you were very lucky. You called a 4:1 pot or even worse because of the possibility of getting sandwiched in a reraise race and it looks like you had only 2 clear outs (the queens) plus 3 J's (no spades) partial outs because of the full-house and KT-higher straight possibilities. You think it was worth calling?

I think I call this one down. I think it more likely that button is playing A9/K9 suited in spades than slow-playing an 8. With only 31 hands of PT stats, unless you've seen him in a hand like this slow-playing trips putting him on 8x is MUBS, IMO.

BTW, cut off this post at your turn action. Button's fold on the river makes it clear he doesn't have the 8, and your read on him isn't very accurate, and may have colored my response.
