After a spot of non-poker-related bankroll armageddon, I've been working my way back up to the heady heights of the $50s, starting at the lowly $10s. Up to the $20s now.

I raise preflop, I don't mind the flop check to see if a spade hits on the river (don't want to get c/r'd by a str8/flushdraw) but I bet the turn.

On the button, raise this to 300-400. This might get the BB to fold his hand. Check behind on the flop as 11t stated is a good play to avoid a check-raise, and definately bet the turn if checked too again.

Raising preflop is key though...

interesting play. i like to RR PF here against a looser player, but given the stack size of the limper a call here doesnt bother me.

I like to fire out a bet at the flop, if i dont do that - your line is prob what i take. i'm not thrilled w calling the bet on the river, smells like BB has a 9, but i still prob call, since i like calling

Seems to me checking the flop lets a single spade draw for free. Or a gut shot draw for free. ???

It's poker - it's about calculated risk - not pulling your head out of the way like a turtle.
