Default How much does a good poker dealer make?

i've heard everything from minimum wage + some tips to 60k plus to 90k

I dont see someone who deals 1-5 stud or 2/4 making huge tips since pots are already quite small. But higher limits at a buck per pot it could grow quickly.

Maybe i should be sitting in the zero seat instead.

If players tip $1 per pot no matter the stakes the dealer wouldn't care if they were dealing 2/4 or 2000/4000

What is the standard tipping guideline for a 2000/4000 table?

How about a 200/400 table?

An 80/160 table?

If you can deal 40 hands an hour, $1 avg tip per hand = $40/hr + your min wage. Even if you are only dealing 40 mins out of the 60 (they give 20 min breaks I understand) you can still get $25/hr + 6 for wage = 31/hr = $62K/year much of it tax-free.

The top of the line dealers who deal the bigger games, have the more regular customers, etc. Should easily be able to get into the 80-90K range. So 60K up to 90K would be a good estimate. With an effective income (due to tax benefits) of closer to 70K.

I can tell you this... I make $5.50 per hour.. tips range from 7 to 10 bucks per "down". Downs are 30 minutes.. on a good night I might work 4 to 5 downs.. slow nights maybe 3 during an 8 hour shift..

Last week my tips ranged from 99 bucks to 20 bucks.. specifically 80, 70, 40, 20, 99... NOW.. take 10% out of that prior to my cash out for the floormen... so I took home 72, 63, 36, 18, and 89.00... Then I am taxed on that..

If I could make 80K or more a year whoopie.. but it ain't happening.. figure I might make around 20K this year dealing..

This week I work 4 days... so that is less money plus one of those is a day shift.. I know the day shift dealers have been averaging about 20 bucks per 8 hour shift...

We don't get tipped after every pot.. some never tip.. no matter what they win.. I give them the same service.. but it is nice to get the tips.. and I thank you

poker mama...

Generally ZERO. Most pros or big game players do not tip at all. Thats why the dealers at Bellagio could care less if they have to deal that game. I know several of them, all confirm this, so please none of the rumors please.

Funny. Played at the Bellagio during the 2002 WSOP and the dealers said in the 1500/3000 game they had going, each player would take turns tossing the dealer a $25 when they began their down. Which was about $20 more than they made in the "normal" big limit games going.
