You are most definitely correct. Jan/Feb are cold. You don't want to be anywhere near a swimming pool, unless it's an indoor pool.

thanks for the response... compared to toronto, it'll be balmy, but not enough for outdoor pool.

It's not that balmy. In fact, most casinos close their pool areas in the winter.

At night, it almost always drops into the 30's and occasionally into the high 20's. Not Toronto, but pretty cold. Plus, its very windy.

So no shorts, bring a warm jacket.

For more temperate winters, you may want to try Los Angeles...most days are in the 60's and 70's(unless theres a storm) and most nights don't drop below 45 or so. Or even better yet is the indian places in San Diego, but those are not nearly as good as Los Angeles poker.

I got real lucky in early February one year. It was in the 80s every day.

I did some weather research, and I think it was late Jan/early Feb 2003. Those were record hot days.

Commerce is biggest(and best unless your tolerance for douchebags is low.)

Also huge are Bicycle Casino, Hollywood Park, Hawaiian Gardens, Hustler, Normandie, and I suppose Crystal Park. There is no real reason to play at Normandie or Crystal Park.

All are within about a 20 mile radius of each other. Once you are at one, it is only a 10-20 minute drive to any of the others, if no traffic. Note that there is a fairly nice hotel at Commerce, though no pool that I am aware of. It is something like $110 a night.

You will need a car. Los Angeles is horrible without a car. It's horrible with a car, but more horrible without one.

sternroolz, thanks for the headsup on L.A.

i got a bunch of info on a UCLA poker club site.

if i go, i will definitely get a car... although i guess that's the great advantage of las vegas.

I am probably the only idiot that wears shorts during the Winter in Vegas. It gets very cold at night and has been for some time now. Whenever I go to a casino at like 2 AM and step outside to go to my car, I am freezing.
