Default SB vs BB in Limit Hold\'em

I'm sure some of the game theorists here have analysed the following situation:

Heads-Up Limit Hold'em

You are in the SB which is 1/2 small bet. The BB has the Button.

1) How would a game theoretical optimal strategy look like here?

2)Also, how much is being in position worth in these situations?

My guess is that the ideal SB strategy should be raise or fold with raising the top 50% of hands and folding the rest.

Wrong .

Maybe not so constructive answer , but you have position which makes you want to play a hand that i.e. has 49% chance to win. The exact % can be found using game theory. I think this has been computed already.

No, you don't have position. The BB has the button! That's what makes the question interesting

For starters, I don't think the button can ever fold preflop unless his opponent rarely raises.

I'm sure you know, but this situation is different in straight HU and 3+ handed ring where the blinds play each other. In the HU games the SB has position, in 3+ handed the BB has position, I'm sure this makes a big difference to the way the SB should play, but I'm not sure what those are as I suck HU.

Regards Mack

At PokerStars and PartyPoker, the big blind has the button.

In my experience, it’s far more common to have the button on the small blind when heads up. If the button is on the big blind, the big blind has position on every betting round. To adjust that imbalance, most sites give the button to the small blind.
