Phil Gordon is Gay - and thinks Phill Hellmuth is a woman
This is about 10 minutes from his chat today on ESPN.
No - he isn't gay, but he really has a great sense of humor about himself. He also gives a great answer about not raising the buy in in the Main Event. ------------------------------------------------------- Have you joined the ESPN Poker Club? What are you waiting for? A seat at the World Series of Poker is up for grabs! Phil Gordon: (1:00 PM ET ) I'm here and ready for your questions! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terrence (Seattle, WA): Is it true that there are "bounties" on many of the top pros during the WSOP? Do people actually offer money for knocking these guys out? What's the incentive behind that? Phil Gordon: (1:03 PM ET ) (Laughing) Sometimes if you want to play a joke on your friends you can offer $100 or more to knock your friend out! But we sometimes do ''last longer'' bets. The person who lasts the longest wins. Sometimes those bets are bigger than the buy-ins. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy (Concord, CA): When will we see new episodes of celebrity poker? Love the show and your new book. Phil Gordon: (1:03 PM ET ) August 18. There are 12 new episodes on the way. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Atlanta, GA: I am going to Vegas next week. Where is your favorite place to play Hold 'em? Phil Gordon: (1:04 PM ET ) Usually play at the Bellagio but the Palms has a very good no-limit game right now. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave (NJ): I heard you and Dave Foley are dating, congratulations, he is a catch. Phil Gordon: (1:04 PM ET ) Yes, and Dave is very cute. I'm a very lucky boy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eric (Rye Brook, NY): Phil, Do you think the WSOP should increase it's main event buyin to $25,000 to limit the amount of satellite entries? Phil Gordon: (1:05 PM ET ) No. I like the big field. It's great for the game. $60 million prize purse will bring a lot of great exposure. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Troy (Kentucky): Hey Phil: As coworkers, we have a twice a month game. Recently, we had a new person join the staff and he has left badly beaten every time. He has hinted around about not playing anymore. Any advice on how to let him win to keep him in the game? Thanks. Phil Gordon: (1:05 PM ET ) Send him flowers with his own money?! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rick Cilenti (Cleveland): When you were underage, did you go fake I.D. or just sneak in to the casino? Phil Gordon: (1:06 PM ET ) At 6'9'' there is no sneaking in anywhere! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-money, NYC: Hey Phil, I heard you were a successful business man before you became a prof. poker player. What kind of business were you involved with? Phil Gordon: (1:06 PM ET ) It's true. I was in network management software. I was a software engineer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chris NYC, NY: would you consider your job on Bravo's celebrity poker show to be the best job a poker pro can have? Phil Gordon: (1:07 PM ET ) Hands down THE best job in poker. No doubt about it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- jim (dallas): When you toured the country going to sporting events, which was your favorite and why? Phil Gordon: (1:08 PM ET ) The best week in sports is the NCAA Final Four followed by The Masters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sasha (L.S.): What are your thoughts on the recent comments of Barry Greenstein that there are only 5 top tier players? Phil Gordon: (1:08 PM ET ) I'd have to be one of the top five to comment on that. So therefore, no comment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John (Arlington, VA): Phil, how much ribbing do you get from your fellow pros for the Celebrity Poker gig? It's a great show, but I imagine your friends might use it against you. Phil Gordon: (1:09 PM ET ) Not a lot of ribbing. But people ask me for the chip count all the time while I'm playing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jake (Englewood): Do you beleive that being a women is a disatvantage when play poker? Phil Gordon: (1:10 PM ET ) Last time I checked, I wouldn't know. Phil Gordon: (1:10 PM ET ) Ask Phil Hellmuth when he comes on at 2:30. |

Re: Phil Gordon is Gay - and thinks Phill Hellmuth is a woman
Here are a couple more quotes - gotta get back to work, or I'd post the rest:
--------------------------------------------------------- Bob: Do you have a lucky hand? Phil Gordon: (1:10 PM ET ) That's a personal question! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dylan (Boston): What are your thoughts on NBC's heads up tournament? Do you think it takes more or less skill to win tournament like that? Phil Gordon: (1:11 PM ET ) I think the tournament is great. I like the heads up format. But the blinds in this tournament went up very quickly. It took a lot of the skill out of the game. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nigel (vegas): phil, are you coming to LV Food and Beverage Magazine's next event at the Pussycat Doll's Lounge next Tuesday? Vince Neil will be performing at midnight! Phil Gordon: (1:12 PM ET ) Hadn't heard about it. When you speak to Vince Neil, tell him you are doing a fantastic job as his publicist. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David (Charleston, WV): I believe that poker is about 80 percent luck and 20 percent skill. Do you agree, if not where would you put the percentages? Phil Gordon: (1:12 PM ET ) Reverse those percentages. |

Re: Phil Gordon is Gay - and thinks Phill Hellmuth is a woman
I think the WSOP prize pool could reach $60 million even with a $25k buy-in.
