Default mini-step 4 hand, AQ facing an all-in

mini step 4 $165 buy-in

5 left
1-2 get mini step 5
3-5 get mini step 4

Seat 1: Hero (1105)
Seat 7: ohmyblob (310)
Seat 8: LIV3STRONG (580)
Seat 9: JackSeven333 (1185)
Seat 10: daBrock111 (6820)
ohmyblob posts small blind (150)
LIV3STRONG posts big blind (300)
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to Hero [ Qd, Ah ]
JackSeven333 raises (900) to 900
daBrock111 folds.
hero ???

Because of the blinds stacks jacks raise could be a hand far inferior to AQ could it not. Also 3-5th pay the same so if i beat jack here i should be guaranteed second place.

however, i didnt like the situation i'd rather be the bettor naturally here.

any thoughts

Call. He knows you don't want to play a big pot without a monster and likely has a hand that he wants to play against the shortstacks if anything. AQ is probably quite good against his range, and you're already guaranteed another shot. I'd say it's a race or you're dominating him.

With the payout structure and chip position, it would be absolutely insane to fold this.

Here's why:

-Waiting out the small stacks is pointless. 3-5 get paid the same.
-Busting the bettor virtually assures you the step 5 entry. Busting the other 2 or doubling through the leader doesn't mean nearly as much to you.
-You have a strong hand
-You have <4 bbs, as does the bettor.

I can't imagine a compelling reason to fold this. If you lose the hand, so what? You aren't likely to get into a better situation than this.

i am glad that you agreed with my call.

it was an odd hand as i called and both shorties called too but jacks ako won and they were down to two from five in one hand.

i wasnt too bothered that jack won or what his hand was, it was whether or not i played the situation right. So im gald you agreed with my decision.

Cheers guys
