Default $6.50 turbo 99 hand

My first analysis post Be gentle.

Villian is 35/15 after 14 hands and got his big stack after rivering two pair with QJo against AA in level 1. That's the only hand he has shown down.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

UTG+1 (t1405)
MP1 (t1345)
Hero (t1355)
CO (t1510)
Button (t1040)
SB (t3275)
BB (t1250)
UTG (t2320)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
3 folds, Hero raises to t150, CO: calls t150, 1 fold, SB calls t125, 1 fold.

Flop: (t500) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets t250, Hero ???

Is this
a) an easy push because we have an over pair we want to protect?
b) an easy fold because it is still early

Calling seems pointless and any other size raise leaves me pretty much crippled. Am I missing anything else?

6.50 turbo players are donks, i did one two days ago and tripled up in the first 5 hands from morons going all in with TPNK after the flop.

id push and expect A7 or a flush draw, but there are plenty of reasons for folding, since you can certainly outplay the crap out of most of these people later down the road with stronger hands.

I must admit that a thought crossed my mind when first thinking about this situation; that thought was limp preflop and fold to a raise.

However since that was not done and we are on the flop, then I would push this. I have played at PS SNGs for awhile now... anywhere from the $5.50's to the $27s turbo's and must say that at the $6.50 level there are tons of horrid horrid players. This is a push because of that circumstance. Against tighter players I may have to fold, it might be hard tho.

With the blinds at 50, I like a PF raise of ~200 or more. Your 3x BB raise is going to attract action from Ax, Kx, smaller pairs, etc. here.

Since SB called then raised, a push is in order. If he calls with 77, then blame it on the weak PF raise.

Good luck on the tables! ShalackaWhacked

hey torr

i push this sb big stack flop bet.

-most likely he put you on overcards so the flop missed you
-he has a big stack
-if he has a pair then you have him right where you want him
-the most likely worst case for you is something like JT clubs, but he could have a set (although i think he does something stupid like min bet or check raise you with a set)
-like you said calling sucks here because you are going to commit so try and get him to possibly fold now while you still can put some pressure on him.

Thanks for all the replies. Much appreciated.

I pushed, SB called with TT and out in 8th I went.

I feel like every time i have a mid pocket pair with 3 unders on the flop that I end up with a hand I need to protect by going all in and then either being way behind or getting outdrawn. I just wanted to make sure I don't become results oriented and stop making the correct play.

I guess I also have 3xBB stuck in my head as a standard raise and I need to bump that up a bit at this stage of the tourney to push people out with hands that don't want a lot of action.

Hypothetical question -

Let's say I made a 4 or 5x BB raise instead and got called by the CO and SB. Does this change anything? If SB was tight would a fold be in order?

if the SB was tight I think I might fold this but people fold all the time after I come over the top here. But I dont normally raise with 99 in MP which might be a leak idk. Once it hits 50/100 though Im definetly raising it. 25/50 blinds are trouble area for me and Im trying to improve my game at that level. I dont like to get 200 of my chips in when if a likely flop of a couple overs comes your probally in trouble.
