pro that works 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year sees ~60000 hands a year.

online pro that 4 tables for 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year sees 500000.

That's actually the odds of being dealt a royal flush in 5 cards. In hold 'em where you have 7 cards, the odds that you will get a royal flush on your next hand are actually 1 in 30,940. Of course this assumes that you actually see all 7 cards, so your real odds are much worse when you consider that you'll sometimes fold a hand that would have made a royal or that everyone else will fold to an earlier bet, denying you the chance to draw to it. The more passive you and/or the games that you play are, the higher your chances of getting a royal flush because you'll see a lot more showdowns. (i.e. if you're in a very aggressive game where almost every hand is decided on the flop, you'll be much closer to that 1 in 649,740 number)
