Default Adjustments for button payment vs. rake?

I posted this in the small stakes forum, but only got one reply. I'm hoping that the B&M forum leads to a better response rate.

A number of B&M rooms require a button payment rather than a rake. So, e.g., in a $3/$6 game, you would pay a $3 "blind" on the button, and that counts as a bet. This happens, for example, at the popular rooms in the Bay Area. (As an aside, does anyone know of a Bay Area poker room that uses a more traditional rake?)

Are there any adjustments you might consider making in such a game compared to one that has a rake? Consider that an extra person is more likely to see the flop, even with marginal holdings, but the pot doesn't actually have any extra money in it to compensate.

Also, is it possible to make a consistent profit at the low limit games (e.g., $3/$6) despite the button payment?
