Turn raise with flush & open ended straight draw
Hey folks, new to this forum although I've been lurking for a long time. My question on the following hand is whether my turn raise is standard fare or should it be avoided:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (8 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, CO folds, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: (5 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks, Button bets, SB folds, BB calls, Hero calls, MP2 calls. Turn: (4.50 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks, Button bets, BB calls, Hero raises, MP2 calls, Button calls, BB calls. Re: Turn raise with flush & open ended straight draw
Welcome to the forums.
1-The AJ suited is autoraise UTG in microlimits. 2-Bet out on the flop, if raised, re-raise it right back. 3-Personally I would have just bet out on the turn. 4-Nice hand. |

Re: Turn raise with flush & open ended straight draw
i play draws this strong much more agressively. you have a 12 out draw on the flop and a 15 outer on the turn, without even counting your overcard outs. your flop draw comes in 45% by the river. imho you shouldve bet the flop and the turn. i'm interested to hear what others think.

Re: Turn raise with flush & open ended straight draw
zuluking, I appreciate the response. re: point #3 I only checked with the expectation that my subsequent raise would get enough calls.
At that point, do I want people to fold or call? Presumably if I hit one of my straight / flush outs I should have the best hand. |

Re: Turn raise with flush & open ended straight draw
I'm not zulu but I'll reply to your question. If you have 5 players seeing the flop, chances are the majority of them won't be folding to a raise on that flop. It's a loose game. You only need 3 other players in a pot to make capping the flop correct with the nut flush draw. Bet it up!
