My Tiki Chip Design (link fixed)
Here are my nearly-final designs for my Tiki-themed Chipcos. I present them here for your critique, advice, and entertainment... Any thoughts are appreciated!

Re: My Tiki Chip Design (link fixed)
I like the non-denom factor. The chips look fun. The only critique might be that chipco's tend to wear on the outer ring, and while the band you have will look great out of the box... I'd wager that a year of use will be realy hard on them.

Re: My Tiki Chip Design (link fixed)
I'm thinking of doing diagonal gold stripes (the color of the figurines).
I'm torn, because there's nothing on the tops of the chips to "anchor" the edge spots; on the other hand, they're Chipcos, so they wouldn't match up to anything even if I did have something on the tops. |

Re: My Tiki Chip Design (link fixed)
These are totally tits.... I'm surprised how much I like them since I usually like the more retro looking chips

Re: My Tiki Chip Design (link fixed)
I hope you'd consider some traditional wide edge-spotting. Vary it up a bit like suits.
You can pick up / insert accent colors. e.g. give the cross on teh green one a little more contrast and you've got gold, green, light green as potential edge spot colors same with white - pick up those streamers toward the edge spots where possible, add in some color to pick up on the spots so you have a cohesive whole... of course, they may get 'busy' which may not be what you're going for at all |

[/ QUOTE ] I like the design... they are fun. Very cool - I like the way you subtly worked in the suits & joker. I don't think the edge spots need an anchor unless you refering to a color on the face. I'd do something cool with the edge spots as opposed to a simple stripe and vary them... I always liked the Crystal Oysters spots. I guess you could work a design into the band if you thought you needed an anchor. I like the diagonal strip idea just don't like them all to be the same. I think the white chip needs a little work it seems to stand out from the others... I'd almost nix the white chip and make it a gold (or orange?) chip as you could use the blues as $1's plus white's got a better chance of getting too dirty. I'd look at making the wrap a darker more contrasting shade than the middle bkg to see if it highlights the figures better. The red chip's a little like that as the wrap red differs from the inner bkg red. Also wondering if the lines on the wrap should be gold to match the figures base color??... that might be a little much but I'd have to see it. Well that's my random first thoughts. Nice job on the design... it grows on me the more I look at it - Fins |

Re: My Tiki Chip Design (link fixed)
I'm a big Shag fan, so I think these chips are dead sexy. I also like the look of no denominations on these.
I'd like to see what you get going for the edge spots. |

Re: My Tiki Chip Design (link fixed)
I like these a lot- very funky and fun.
The edge spots are going to be a problem IMHO. I wouldn't break up the ring on the face of the chip and as you said Chipco won't match up. Can they do the outer ring design that you have already, on the chip edges? Anyone think that the heart is the proper contrast and the other 3 suits need to be darker to stand out a little more, similar to the maroon heart? |
