Default Decrypting files on XP

I have a file on my slave HD that I wanna open but it's encrypted (green). I right-click the file, click Properties -> Advanced -> Details.. to find that I don't have access to it. My old username was pkim4@BING and now it's Paul@HANDSOME (name@computer). So... does anyone know how to decrypt this sucker

I think you may be SOL. Sounds like you reinstalled the OS without unencrypting the file first under the previous OS installation.

Yea, I think I am. I tried taking ownership of the encrypted file with no success. The thing is I never encrypted the damn file in the first place. Stupid Windows.

Windows certainly does not auto-encrypt anything. This is most certainly an operator error type thing.

You're SOL. Your file was encryptet based on a asymmetric algorithm meaning that the key to decrypt your file was stored in your old windows user account. If you have deleted that account without saving the proper account certificates, you'll have a hard time decrypting the file.

These guys can do it, and might very well do it. But they're not gonna share the results with you.

Just attach the file to an email (to anybody) with the subject line: Jihad starts tomorrow.
