Perhaps an ignorant question about weed...

I have another account on 2+2, but to be honest I'm a bit embaressed to ask questions like these, so forgive the new account, but OOT is usually good for a range of advice and opinions.

I recently started smoking pot -- not necessarily "regularly," since I can't really get it regularly, but once in a while. Sometimes I get stoned out of my head, and sometimes it's a very mild high. Sometimes it's me in the kitchen trying to figure out how to work the refirgerator, and sometimes it's more of a physical sensation. Sometimes time is completely screwed up in my mind, and sometimes things are fairly normal.

Why is this? I'll actually get different highs from the same batch, which seems odd.

Some possibilities:

1) I never smoked cigarettes, so this is really me learning to smoke for the first time. Perhaps I inhale deeper/differently at different times. I'm smoking out of a glass bowl.

2) Smoking a different part of the bud? I'm not really sure which part does what and where gets you high.

3) Different plants have different strengths?

I appreciate any comments or thoughts, as this is fairly new to me ...

When you get stoned, you think really deeply about a lot of trivial things. You are stoned right now, arent you?

Yes, different strains have different strengths. No, different parts of the bud wont be too dramatically different. You may be inhaling differently, but I doubt it.

It's probably a mix of #'s 1 & 3.

Bongs get the job done better and faster, plus the water filters out some of the resinous crap that gets stuck in your lungs.

Do you know if you're smoking Cryp or Regs? Regs is the cheapie stuff that tastes really bad- a lot of times regs can vary greatly in strength. Cryp is the buds... these vary even more (a la High Times) in that there are thousands of different strands of it.

Also when you first start smoking a number of things come into play- who you smoke with, what you're doing when you're smoking, etc. that can change what you're feeling from the high.

personally, i have different highs based on the reefers that i smoke. i'm a weed snob and i will not smoke mids because it burns my throat and the high isn't as nice.. plus coming down gives me a headache.

smoking dank is the only way to go, no burning and no headaches for me.

who you're with and what you're doing when you are high has a huge impact on the high you have... when i smoke by myself, i still get all giddy and what not. but when with other people, i feel 10x higher and its much more fun.

First off, you should be proud about being a pot smoker!

Some pot is stronger than others. It also depends how much you smoke, how long you hold it in, how dense the hits are, etc, etc, etc. Fact is, sometimes you'll just get stoned out of your tree - don't fear it, just embrace it!!

I really hope to see this gimmick account pop up in other threads.
