Default Return of the Fantasy Football Advice Column

This is not a "rate my team" thread. The answer is always I, for incomplete, unless your team is really freaking good, or a lost cause (which is rare.) This is for other stuff.

If you are posting a roster, please break it down by position and by starters/bench, with a basic (BASIC) breakdown of scoring (i.e. "mostly touchdowns," "yardage counts a lot," "rushing TDs count for a lot more than passing TDS," "all that really matters is the guy's haircut.")

Thanks.

10 team league. 15 roster spots. Starting roster: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, D.

All TD's 6 pts. 20/y 1 pt bonus

I have pick 8.

I'm positive Culpepper will go before it gets to me, which is good. I figure at 8 & 13 I will have a choice between: Portis, D. Davis, Lewis, McCallister, Dillon, K. Jones, J. Jones. R. Johnson, Barber.

Which 2 RB's would you recommend I take at 8 and then who are my better options at 13?

Besides Manning or Culpepper is there a QB that would be worth a 3rd or 4th in this league? Who?

With the 8th pick I would go for Duece, Dillon or Lewis while siding with Duece. That being said I think you have a chance to get a top caliber 2nd RB like Davis, J. Jones or Portis with the 2nd round pick. If Rudi slips to the second round grab him up and hold onto him for dear life.

I wouldnt suggest targeting the 3rd or 4th best QB options seeing that it is only a 10 team league and the drop off from McNabb and Culpepper is pretty drastic. I would look to the 5th or 6th round for a 3rd tier QB and stock up on solid WR's. Look to Matt Hasselbeck for a rebound year.

Why is everyone so high on Rudi? I agree he's good value in the second, but...

I value him high because I think the Bengals offense can be pretty potent this year. A healthy Warrick, TJ. Housazmedawa (sp?) and Chad Johnson will open up some nice running lanes for him. Also I dont see any sort of competition for carriers allowing him to get 25-30 carriers that you would love to have out of a 2nd RB.

1450 yards
12 TDs
only 4 fumbles in 360+ attempts

Improved team that will play from ahead a lot so he should be getting some nice downhill yards in Q3/Q4.

What do you people think of bettis now that staley is out?

I'd lump him with CMart, L. Jordan, maybe slightly behind Westbrook

ok, I have a dynasty roster, ten teams.

scoring is:
Completions (.1)
Passing Yards (25 yards per point)
Passing Touchdowns (6)
Interceptions (-4)
Rushing Attempts (.1)
Rushing Yards (10 yards per point)
Rushing Touchdowns (6)
Receptions (.5)
Reception Yards (10 yards per point)
Reception Touchdowns (6)
2-Point Conversions (2)
Fumbles (-3)
Fumbles Lost (-1)
Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3)
Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3)
Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3)
Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4)
Field Goals 50+ Yards (5)
Point After Attempt Made (1)
Sack (2)
Interception (3)
Fumble Recovery (3)
Touchdown (6)
Safety (3)
Block Kick (3)
Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (6)
Points Allowed 0 points (14)
Points Allowed 1-6 points (9)
Points Allowed 7-13 points (6)
Points Allowed 14-20 points (3)
Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)
Points Allowed 28-34 points (-3)
Points Allowed 35+ points (-6)

we start QB, 2WR, RB, WR/RB, TE, K, D. 12 bench spots

my current team is

QB - Brady, Carr
RB - Holmes, K Jones, L Jordan, Ricky Williams, LJohnson, C Taylor, Blaylock, Clarett
WR - Holt, Wayne, Driver, T Williamson, Greg Lewis (shaddup, U of I bias)
TE - Heap, Wiggins
K - Vinateri
D - Buffalo

the question is what RBs to deal and where to upgrade. I could use better QB/WR production or an elite TE, but I'm not sure how much I'll have to pay for that.

FWIW I had just deal J porter for Larry Johnson to insure that I have the KC RB position locked up.

At 8 & 13 (where I had 1 draft), I was able to get Deuce & Green. If Deuce is gone by the 8th pick, someone screwed up and there's someone that's a "must take" with the 8th pick... someone like Culpepper or Edge. I know Green might not be "rated" as high as some of those other guys, but I think places like ESPN really dropped the ball this year on ratings. They don't give any credit to people who were hurt last year. Last year Green was hampered by injury and in 5 games he had less than 11 carries. If he's healthy, he's one of the top fantasy RB's out there. People forget so quickly what he did 2 years ago. I think he's an absolute STEAL if you can get him as late as I did in my draft.

Another guy ESPN dropped the ball on is Stephen Davis. I can't even remember his rank but he's VERY low. Yet another guy people forget about what he did 2 years ago because he was injured last year. He will be the work horse this year and is absolute highway robbery to pickup as a 3rd RB in a later round (I think I got him 13th round).

McNabb is the clear #3 guy as far as QB's go. After that, it gets cloudy. I personally went with Collins but I have good backups in Hasselbeck & Warner that I can plug in if/when I need them. Collins loves to throw the deep ball and has one of the best in the game. With Moss & Porter and a horrible defense, he should be out there gunning it. Be aware though that he's going to throw a lot of picks.

I think Lamont is going to have a really good year, barring injury, so I'd look to use K Jones to upgrade. I think Jones will be good too, but he's prob ranked in most guy's mind highger than Lamont. You could also just see who the other guy likes better. Really, one or the other, doesn't matter much IMO.

I thin you paid a lot for LJ.
