Default BJ BS insurance information question (x-post from prob. forum)

I have been casino whoring for a week now and I just have a quick question:

When the dealer has an A showing and offers insurance you obviously turn it down.
However when the dealer doesn't then immediately declare blackjack you then know that the dealer's downcard is not a T.

Does the blackjack basic strategy take this into account?

Thanks

Tim

No. Basic strategy does not take into account the cards dealt.

Even for a counter that info has minimum value, as he has already placed his bet and strategy variations count little compared to betting sizing.

Out of personal interest:

which (if any) hand combinations does this information cause a change in basic strategy?

Thanks

Tim

The basic strategy rules of hitting or standing to the dealer Ace already assumes no Blackjack. Therefore, follow basic strategy.

It doesn't cause a change in Basic Strategy. It is already incorporated into BS, as the last response mentioned.

Even in games where the dealer doesn't check for blackjack first (this only happens in B&M) basic strategy still assumes no blackjack. The reason is that if he has blackjack, you can't win no matter what you do.

this is correct....as is homer (because they are pretty much saying the same thing).

you do NOT change B.S. at an online casino.
the only reason to depart from B.S. is based on card-counting and what cards you KNOW have been reomved from the deck.
i am fairly certain that most of these online casinos re-shuffle after each hand...so you are starting with a fresh deck each time....so you don't EVER change from B.S. (unless you actually WANT to play with a greater disadvatage then you have already).

you also can change a couple of plays just based on the specific rules of the game....but there are different B.S. strategies for different rules such as DAS, number of decks, etc...so you're not really changing B.S., you are just using the appopriate version of B.S. for the version of BJ that you are playing.

Thanks everyone.

Here is something I came across while searching for the answer to this question before I posted. I am sure you have all read it before, but just in case you haven't.

As far as I am concerned any BJ on the internet is only for real losers, whatever BS you use to help you. Real life BJ however can't be beat, it is just the best thing in the world.

Although considering the BS BJ my girlfriend gives; I might just change my mind.
