Default Young man, desperately seeking line

400 NL

Donk (450) raises to 8. MP(400), Villian(475, and tight) call, and I call with 65 of diamonds. The BB calls and I cover all.

Flop is A43 with the A4 of diamonds. Checked to villian, who bets $25 into a $40 pot. My move?

I think he will fold everything but a set, and maybe even two pair(I play tight too). If I raise to a decent amount(100), and he pushes(reraises essentially) I dont want to be calling all my money off with a draw, but I will prob have to, as I am 50/50. I don't really do the minraise, which will leave me enough room to push if he reraises, but i still have the same problem against his hand range. If I just call and he bets the turn, I am not going to know whether or not he just as AK/AQ, and can be blown off the pot or a set and cannot. I hate to play a big draw so passively, esp when he can see the flush draw, and half my straight outs bring a 4 straight to the board.

i'd go ahead and raise the flop.

this is what you want. your highest EV return is if everyone folds. i think you can assume he has a set and fold if he pushes, and if he calls your raise with a set, he may check to you, giving you a free river card.

Why just not call and let the donk in. He is labeled a donk for a reason. If he has the straight draw and hits while you hit flush he will give you all hos money. At least many donks do. If he hits a straight you prob has bigger straight than him which is great too.

I agree with others, that you should raise, and fold to a push/committing raise. If you make it $80, and he pushes you'll have an EV of -$4:60/hand if you call (given that everyone else folds) (pot will be $569 and you'll have to call $397 w/ 40% equity). Also, given that you are correct in your read that he would only do this with a set.

Standard raise to 85-90. If you are spot on and feel he is only pushing with a set, then let it go my friend...

That's a bit rude, but perhaps I wasn't clear because it was late, although I would assume that someone wouldn't advocate an out right fold here. Raise to $90, fold to push. $360 to win $690.

Plz give me the benefit of the doubt before proving your an ass.
