Default Adding a Monitor for a 9300 that doesn\'t support 1920x1200.

My Inspiron 9300 doesn't support 1920x1200 and I am looking to add a 2001fp to it. Can I run the 2001fp at 1600x1200 with my 9300 not running at 1920x1200? Is there anything I can do to get my 9300 to run at 1920x1200? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You cannot get your 9300 to function at 1920 x 1200 unless you bought the WUXGA screen. The video card can handle that resolution (meaning if you plugged a 2001FP into it, it could run at 1600 x 1200), but the screen you have there cannot handle it. You can buy a WUXGA version of just the screen portion (i.e. the lid of the laptop) off eBay or something similar if you can find one then just swap out yours for the new one. Might be cheaper to just get a new laptop though.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into a new screen for it. Are new laptop screens relatively easy to install or would I have to pay someone to do it? Thanks for the help.

If you have to ask you probably need to pay someone to do it... I'm an experienced user and I'd definitely weigh the cost/effectiveness of modifying my laptop vs. selling it on ebay and getting the one I need. Hard to imagine it's worth modifying it.
