Default My fun poker cycle. Sound familiar to anyone?

Play well, win steadily, gradually get creative, win more, become a tactical LAG, have an uber-profitable dream session.

Think I'm God's gift to poker, brag to my friends, buy something ridiculous with my winnings, make mental plans for the WSOP.

Become a full-blown LAG, lose about half my bankroll being an idiot, get depressed, whine to my friends about being a horse**** poker player, take a break.

Wake up, play weak-tight, play well, win steadily, gradually get creative ...

Funny thing is, I'm aware of this and still can't seem to stop it.

Been there. Eventually you'll just stop doing that.

This is natural. You should real Ray Zee's article on the stages in a poker player's development.

you probably have some underlying belief that you don't deserve to win, or that you can't sustain a trend, something like that is likely holding you back... I've struggled with the same until I saw a therapist for a while.

I'm right there with you, and i'm in the middle of the bad part of the cycle, when I looked and realized the hands I was playing, and what position, and started wondering, "When did I become a complete Donkey?"

I'm still in this vicious cycle. Except, I start from basically scratch, make it up to around 600-1000$ then lose it all. This has happened nearly 8 times now, I question why I still play. I still cannot control my tilt and bankroll management, they're my downfall.

I think tilt during the LAG stage is also a big problem for me.

The first two times I reached this stage, I was stretching my bankroll (playing 5/10 with $2,200 and 3/6 with $900, etc.) due to my inflated confidence. Because I was playing so high (by my standards, anyway) just a few hours of tilt really crippled me.

My current tilt record is $1,600 within 36 hours, which I'm quite proud of, considering I play small stakes.

650$ in 30 minutes.
Playing 4/8 no limit buying in the minimum each time.
This was my first bankroll I had ever had.
