Default Hit trips from BB

I never know what to do when the flop hits when you are BB and have seen the flop for free.
Here is a recent example:

This was the 2nd hand of a Party 10+1.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t15 (10 handed) converter

saw flop|saw showdown

CO (t800)
Button (t790)
SB (t785)
Hero (t800)
UTG (t825)
UTG+1 (t800)
UTG+2 (t800)
MP1 (t800)
MP2 (t800)
MP3 (t800)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
2 folds, UTG+2 calls t15, 1 fold, MP2 calls t15, 2 folds, Button calls t15, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (t72.50) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t55, UTG+2 folds, MP2 folds, Button calls t55, SB folds.

Turn: (t182.50) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets t200, Button calls t200.

River: (t582.50) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets t250, Button calls t250.

Final Pot: t1082.50

Results in white below:
Hero has 9h 7s (straight, jack high).
Button has Ac Qc (straight, queen high).
Outcome: Button wins t1082.50.

Flop:
What should I have done here?
Should I just have folded this hand?
check/called?
Was my flop bet too small?

Turn:
This is the only bet I'm happy with, but maybe if I'd known I was going to be making it I should have bet more on the flop.

River:
I thought I had the best hand. Is this bet too big? Since he's going to lay it down anyway if he missed his draws.

Since this was a 10+1, I was would not have been surprised if the button had showndown a pair of Jacks. Perhaps I was underestimating my opposition.

I'd be interested in any comments.

Thanks.

I check/call check/fold the river depending on how I feel, and the size of the bet.

Going into your final 500 or so chips, the 250 you lose are worth far more than the 250 you stand to win and you won't have the best hand and be called all that often to compensate.

I always play trips fast. I'm overbetting this pot on the flop to take it down right then. You've got a flush draw and a straight draw out, and you have the bottom end of a pretty common straight. Make the big bet on the flop and win it there. Turn bet was OK, but you could push there and put the decision to him for all his chips. Also once that 8 comes on the river I check call. He may make a small "bait" bet at the end hoping you'll come over the top sensing weakness, you can just call that and get away rather cheaply...just a lousy river card. IMHO.

A bigger flop bet is in order here, IMO. There are flush and straight draws out there, so betting the pot (75) is required. You could even make the argument that 100 is better.

The turn actually doesn't require as large a bet as you made. It's really not too much of a scare card, despite the fact that it hits the gut on the flop.

I would have bet 75 on the flop.

About 125 on the turn.

And about 125 more on the river, to prevent a possible poorer hand (AJ, KJ, busted club draw) from betting more than I could call.

Regardless, I think this is one of those hands where you're just going to loose a lot of chips. The AQo holder played this very poorly, IMO.

isn't chasing a flush/straight on a paired board a cardinal sin?
