quick party affiliate question - link tracking

Hi, quick question which hopefully an existing affiliate can answer for me...
when working directly with party, is it possible to track your signups purely via the link that they go to to get to the party site?
eg. they go to http://party affiliate link....&ref=abc
where I can set ref to whatever I want, and then view in reports the codes here that have signed up and made a deposit?
(eg. not setting up specific bonus codes or anything for them to use, only via the link they use to download the software).

This is possible via 3rd party networks however they only offer a single signup fee for each new account, not % of MGR.
