Agression, agression, agression
Paradise Poker 40/80 Hold'em (6 handed). Table is ludecreously agressive, like tilting teenagers on speed. I'm particularly interested in oponions about turn and river as I think the flop playes itself.
Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls, MP calls, CO calls, 1 fold, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, UTG calls, MP calls, CO calls, Hero caps, BB calls, UTG calls, MP calls, CO calls. Flop: (20 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) Hero checks, BB bets, UTG raises, MP 3-bets, CO folds, Hero calls, BB calls, UTG calls. Re: Agression, agression, agression
I like the turn. I would lead out on the river though for fear of it being checked around. What were you thinking when check-raising the turn but then passively check-calling the river? For the value of the nuts (a ten)? Or to push the tilting teens off .. ?
I'm interested to hear the reasoning since I don't play this high but would be distressed to hear if UTG had had KT....but he probably doesn't have, because he didn't cap the turn. |

Re: Agression, agression, agression
For tilting teens on speed, they sure chilled out on the turn. They must have very little. You must be good on the river.
Although I would probably bet, checking to induce a bluff seems reasonable. You'll have to call though even if it's two cold back to you. Good luck. Eric |

Re: Agression, agression, agression
Preflop good. Flop? I know you have AK and draw at nuts and two overs, but you call 3 cold on flop? Even if the table is very aggressive I wouldn't even consider this and there is no way that is solid poker. Completely rediculous in my opinion. I don't play 40/80 but please explain?????

He's getting about 8~1 pot odds, and he has 10 outs, 6 of which may or may not be clean (the kings and aces might make a straight, or if they both fall anyone holding a ten has a straight). His other 4 outs, the tens, are to the nut straight. The implied odds of hitting his gutshot alone give him odds to call, and with his overcards theres no question.(Overcards included he's about 4~1 to hit) |

Re: Agression, agression, agression
The river check is most mysterious. Did you put your aggressive opponents on a pair of queens or less and think that they would probably fold to a bet but make a bluff? I think opponents tend to make weak calls in big pots before the make bluff bets into same, but maybe I am not reading you right, and maybe these crack heads were just the type to make this play work. nh I hope you won!

RESULTS
BB Shows Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and MHIG.
Anatta is complety right about the river: I should have bet and regretted not doing so as soon as I hit the button. I checkraised the turn because: 1) I might have the best hand 2) I wanted to know if I was still drawing and could fold the river unimproved. |
