Default A belligerent drunk and a negligent staff

Last night I was at the Bike playing 8/16. It was a must move game, and I was not in the main game yet. At my table was a drunk guy, extremely hammered. He was spraying chips everywhere, and screaming at the top of his lungs. It was close to unbearable, except he was donating chips and his anger was always directed at the dealers or elderly Asian women, not me.

Then I got moved to the main game and everything was nice -- for about 15 minutes. The drunk then got moved (when there was an open seat to my left), and I quickly changed seats so he would be on my right, where I could take maximum advantage of his bad play.

Unfortunately, the disgracefulness of his behavior outweighed the game benefits, and I slowly considered either suicide or homicide. I did neither. Because my temper is longer than the others at the table, everyone else complained before I had the chance. After he cursed out a chip runner for no reason (it would have made a sailor blush), she told the floorman and the floorman just dismissed her.

He continued berating the dealer and the other players, especially the Asians. He started calling them Bruce Lee, and saying "go back to Taiwan." He spilled beer on the table, knocked over other players' chip stacks, and slowed down the game tremendously by giving a huge, loud, profane speech every time it was his action. My head was hurting and I needed earplugs.

The other players kept calling the floorman over, and the floorman eventually leaned over into the guy's ear and told him to keep it down. The drunk tipped the floorman, and he went away. Several Coronas later, the guy got even worse. His screams were so loud that people in the No Limit section were standing up and looking over at our table. Everything in the casino stopped when he would shriek out another one of his bellowing tirades of obscenities.

The same player who complained before complained again, this time to another chip runner and a different dealer, but both of them referred to the floorman, who refused to kick the guy out. He kept getting his tips and quietly warning the guy to keep it down.

It was a juicy game and I was up a couple stacks, so I really didn't want to leave. Because it was a must-move, it was the only 8/16 I could play there. I didn't want to move down in limits or move up to 20/40. I was sort of stuck. I eventually told the drunk, who for some reason considered me his best and only friend at the table, "Dude you're giving me a headache." And he ignored it, just getting louder and slower.

After one more lengthy spew of profanities, the floorman finally said "take a break," and the drunk sat out 3 hands. He quickly came back to the table with another Corona. I gave up, racked up my chips, and said, "Seat open. I'm going to Commerce," loud enough for the floorman to hear me.

I don't think he cared. I ended up not going to Commerce, since by the time I cashed out and got my car from the valet, I just wanted to wind down -- so I went out to a club, danced with three girls, and had a great time.

Besides the fact that I should have skipped the Bike altogether and gone straight to the dance club, what should/could I have done differently in this situation?

I was there too playing 4/8 and I could hear the guy as well. Man that must have sucked being right next to him...although I must admit being able to observe that kind of stuff from afar is part of the appeal of casinos to me...lol...

If the floor isn't going to do anything you make him by escalting the situation . . . start yelling back at the drunk guy untuil the floor can not ignore you.

If he throws you who cares you were going to leave anyway.

Annoying drunk at the table. Well theres a few options. I'd have a beer too. This relaxes me, makes me feel cooler. Think about getting his money, hes drunk hes got to lose...surely?? Do not complain, this only cuases them to get more demonstrative. Relax, stay calm, play cards. Talk to him about garbage that will giove him the idea your his friend and he may converse with you thus noit being such a jackass in general. THis is how I do it. I make friends with the worst players at the table, and make the best ones feel unwelcome. It works.

See you in the SS forum.

Kick him in the nuts, and kick the floorman in the nuts for doing nothing about it.

The floorman should have been kicked in the nuts for allowing this behaviour. The only other things you could have done were to ask to see the shift manager/director on duty or take a break for an hour, go dance with some girls, play another hand, rinse repeat.

Yeah. This isn't a half-bad idea imo amazingly enough.

I would also consider yelling more than once about going to play at the Bike and that you can't believe that this behavior was tolerated.

finally, would contacting a pot-boss or some other casino management been an option here?

I know the floor-man runs the poker-room....but he doesn't operate the whole casino. So trying to somehow go above this idiot might be worth the effort.

Also - whenever he spills someone else's chips I wouldn't complain to the dealer. I would personally shout "floor!!!" and then "would you PLEASE tell this player to stop spilling other people's chips and shouting obscenities?"
I might consider calling the floor over on EVERY infraction that this guy commits.
Every racist slur, every obscenity, every chip-spill.

I'm not sure I would really go through with this...but it is something to consider.

Finally - I do suggest you compose a brief note and send it to the casino AND poker-room management.
Maybe even include a link to this thread.

There's no freaking way I tolerate a situation as bad as the one you describe without taking SOME kind of action.
Obviously complaining to the dealers wasn't getting you anywhere. I would jsut bug the floor NON-stop until they did something.

I can't imagine getting away with behavior like this at one of the Tunica, miss poker-rooms for example.
But I did see some pretty iffy behavior on my brief trips to some of the vegas rooms (and I know that I didn't see anything noteworthy compared with what any Vegas local sees on a regular basis...just typical 'so drunk he can't even see his cards and his REALLY loud' type of stuff).

My recommendation is to quit playing at the Bike. You're 10 minutes from Commerce, a casino that actually enforces decent behavior fairly consistently. FYI, bad behavior is why I no longer play at Hollywood Park. It seemed that everytime I went in there I'd see arguments, card-throwing, generally adults acting like 5-year-olds. But I quit going because the management put up with it. They have the loosest games in LA, but it's not worth the headaches, to me anyway.

I decided your post was too long to read, but I noticed it's about the Bike, so it's not surprising the floor or customer service were terrible.

Worst cardroom floorstaff I've seen outside of New England.
