Default Question about Hands/Hour

I mentioned a few days ago that I'm working on an idea for an article I'm writing. Part of the idea considers how quickly people are playing. What is the typical low end and high end for hands/hour at normal 9 player tables in tournaments? I'm interested in this for both online play and B&M casino play.

that's a metric that isn't used much around here, but I was curious, so I pulled my last two tourneys:

PP 20NLH tourney: 316 hands over 5.25 hours = 60 hands/hr
PS 30NLH tourney: 149 hands over 2.25 hours = 66 hands/hr

I ran into a couple of stallers late in the PP tourney, I'm kind of surprized it didn't affect the number more.

60 hands per hour online is about the norm. 35-40 hands per hour live is the number I usually here.

Thanks! I'm most interested in the range between relatively slow tournaments and fast ones, so that's pretty interesting that staller didn't impact it much. I've been playing mostly in freerolls where the UB tournaments appear to be MUCH slower than those at Absolute or JetSetPoker...but I have to admit I haven't measured the difference yet.

I assume that the live ones generally have longer levels to compensate for that difference? Do you notice any difference in playing speed from one online site to another (possible due to different time limits for players to bet)?

It depends on which live ones.

Big ones have much slower levels..

but some still have 15 minute levels which sucks dick.
